Neptune band playing on the jetty at Simonstown in 1938. Musician Goddard is behind the big drum and Musician Plain on the saxophone. On the far right is Corporal Gardner. The Bandmaster is Pattinson (standing right centre with saxaphone) who was relieved by Bandmaster Donald Joyce in 1941. The middle of the three trumpet players is Band Corporal Reginald  "Pincher" Martin who met his wife Beth in SA whilst serving on the Neptune. They married in Wynburg 20th April 1939 and Reginald has just celebrated his 100th birthday.
