An informal meeting was held at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas on Wednesday, December 19th, 2007 to remember relatives and friends who served on HMS Neptune and Kandahar and died on that day and on the days that followed in 1941. Fourteen members were able to attend and we met at 10.45 in time for the two minutes silence in the church at 11.00. This was followed by a short service at the Memorial which was led by John McGregor and Gerry Wright. A large collection of photographs belonging to Peter Wright, relative of ERA William Wright, which included group photographs and views of Neptune at sea was shown to us during the lunch break. Afterwards, there was an opportunity to visit the newly built National Memorial to those who have died in the service of their country since 1946.
